On Monday, December 13th at approximately 9:45 in the morning, an officer with the Bourbon Police Department stopped a 2015 red Toyota Avalon for speeding in the area of Lincoln highway, just west of Elm Road.
The driver was identified as Angela Campbell, 42, of North Manchester. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located.
During the course of the traffic stop, the Officer had reason to suspect that Ms. Campbell was operating a motor vehicle while impaired on a controlled substance. Field Sobriety Testing was conducted, and Ms. Campbell was taken for a certified test. She was transported to the Marshall County Jail where she was booked for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangerment.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
