Monday the Marshall County Council gave approval to Faith Chapman, Administrator of the County Health Department to apply for a Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant. She told members the PHEP grant is a reimbursable grant they have applied for before. The grant will help pay for the Emergency Preparedness person’s salary and other things that position needs to operate.
Heath Thornton asked if it was a recurring grant and Chapman confirmed that it was. He then motioned to approve the grant request, it was seconded and unanimously approved by the County Council.
The council also approved the request of Highway Superintendent Jason Peters to reduce the number of mechanics from five to four and add that person to the heavy equipment operators.
Councilman Jon VanVactor motioned to amend the 2021 Salary Ordinance to delete one mechanic and add one more heavy equipment operator and the council voted 7-0 to approve the request.
Peters also told the Council on Monday that he was requesting a new employee in the Cum Bridge Fund. That additional position would also be a heavy equipment operator. The council will consider the additional employee request during their September budget hearings.
