Wednesday evening, July 14th Officer John Tice with the Bremen Police Department arrested two individuals from Louisville, KY for Check Deception at Interra Credit Union at 1221 West Plymouth Street.

Just after 5 p.m. Officer Tice was dispatched to the financial institution and location 61-year-old James V. Middleton and 66-year-old James B. Highbaugh for Check Deception over $750 as a level 6 Felony and Fraud. 

Middleton and Highbaugh were lodged in the Marshall County Jail on $1,500 cash bonds and given initial hearings in Marshall Superior Court III on August 17th.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
