In a letter to county residents and businesses, Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel says the department has been “blessed with years of support from people, businesses and communities that have made this country so special.” He goes on to talk about the importance of working together as a community to improve the lives of all.
The sheriff’s department is excited to share the decision to acquire a second K9 for the department. They have purchased a trained and nationally certified dual-purchase dog that will assist with locating drugs and narcotics in vehicles and buildings, criminal tracking and apprehension, locating lost or endangered citizens, officer protection and informational programs to build community relations.
The sheriff’s department is seeking donations that will assist with the K9 Handler Course and Certification, necessary equipment for the K9, the vehicle insert for transportation of the K9 and kennel construction material.
“Diesel” is the new K9 and
“Irok” is the K9 the county has had for a couple years.
Anyone interested in donating to assist with the K9 program at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department can send a check with K9 fund in the memo to the Sheriff’s Department at 1400 Pioneer Drive in Plymouth. Sheriff Hassel noted that donations are tax deductible so you should include your name, address and phone number with your donation for a receipt.
