death_investigationOn Saturday, July 25th at approximately 4:00 P.M. inmates at the Marshall County Jail notified the jail staff of a medical emergency in one of the cells located in the jail pod. Jail officers responded to the scene and discovered Zachary Anderson, age 36 of Plymouth in distress.
The jail staff then immediately began to render aid and begin resuscitation efforts. Minutes later, members of Plymouth Police, Plymouth Fire, and Marshall County police units arrived and continue the resuscitation efforts of Mr. Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was transported to Plymouth Hospital and later transferred to Memorial Hospital. On Monday, July 27th, Zachary Anderson was pronounced deceased. The Indiana State Police were asked to conduct the primary portion of the investigation of the incident.
Preliminary reports indicate that the cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging and his manner of death is being ruled as a suicide. The reports for this incident the by Indiana State Police and the St. Joseph County Coroner`s Office are being sent to the Marshall Prosecutor`s Office for review.
