6707 North Michigan_1This month members of the Plymouth Plan Commission heard the request of Ver-Tex Enterprise LLC to rezone two parcels north on Plymouth at 6707 Michigan Road, the former site of CJ Chrome.  The two parcels are currently zoned R1, residential although the owners content the property was purchased in 2007 as commercial and they have maintained a commercial business operating and paid taxes at that site as one.

Plymouth Building Inspector Keith Hammonds determined Ver-Tex lost their grandfathered in business zoning because the building had set empty for more than a year.

6707 North Michigan_2John Galloway and Rick Vermillion told the Plan Commission members they plan to allow Bread of Life Food Pantry to use the space for the food pantry.  The location would give them more space for storage, unloading trucks and allowing clients to park while pickup up food.

The Plan Commission will send a favorable recommendation to the Plymouth Common Council to rezone the Ver-Tex property on North Michigan Road to C3 commercial corridor with the stipulation of a replat bring the two lots into one single lot.   The recommendation received unanimous support for the board.

6707 North Michigan_3The rezoning will come before the Plymouth City Council at their next meeting on November 28th.
