The 8 th Grade Lincoln Red Storm football team lost to conference rival Wawasee last night at

the Rockpile. In the first half, Lincoln was pummeled by Wawasee’s offense leaving the Red

Storm down 0 to 34 going into halftime. The second half showed off more of what Lincoln had

to offer. Ivan Winkle started up the offense with a 45 yard scramble to move them up the field

which resulted in a touchdown by Donald Sexton and 2 point conversion by Donny Poczik. In

the 4 th quarter, Ivan Winkle ran for a 32 yard touchdown with Donny Poczik again converting for

two points. The defense continued to hold Wawasee scoreless in the second half. Lincoln’s

Daniel Bacon scored on a 6 yard touchdown run with Ivan Winkle scoring the 2 point

conversion. Lincoln’s offensive surge was too late and they could not overcome the large

deficit. Final score was 24 to 34. Lincoln will travel to New Prairie next Tuesday.

Last night, the Red Storm hosted Wawasee at the Rockpile. Lincoln’s defense played much better than they had been, but still gave up too many big plays. The Lincoln offense struggled to handle a strong Wawasee defensive line. In the 4th quarter, after a Wawasee turnover, the Red Storm offense finally started to click with DeVante Garcia’s 60 yard TD run. Matt Manzuk, Peyton Daley, and Garcia each had over 20+ rushing yards in the 4th quarter alone. However, it was still too little, too late for the Red Storm, falling to Wawasee 30-6.
