Commissioners 2016

The Apple Road Bridge in Tippecanoe Township will be replaced thanks to the county receiving Community Crossing funds from the state.

During Monday’s commissioner meeting Laurie Baker from the Highway Department presented a supplemental agreement from USI for the bridge project that was originally signed in June 2016. The project has been on hold because the county didn’t have the funds available to replace the bridge until now. With the Community Crossings money that project will move forward.

The supplemental agreement was for additional funding for design, construction inspection, utility coordination and permitting. The cost increased from June 2013 to now in the amount of $7,000 bringing a not to exceed price tag of $64,000.

While the bridge won’t be replaced immediately, USI can now begin the design phase and permitting portion of the project. The commissioners were told by USI that bidding for the project may be late this fall.
