Illinois-based medical device supplier Banner Medical will officially open its new material processing center with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Warsaw Technology Park.
In August 2015, Banner Medical announced plans to establish its first Indiana operations in Warsaw. The 43,000-square-foot facility will allow the company to deliver medical-grade materials and provide value-added services to its more than 260 clients in the orthopedic, spine, extremities, instrument and dental markets. The new facility will help medical device manufacturers reduce lead time, material costs, in-plant processing costs and costs related to obsolete inventory.
As part of its growth plans, Banner Medical will create up to 76 new Indiana jobs by 2019. The company has already hired 12 Hoosiers and is currently hiring grinder operators, ultra-sonic testers, water-jet cutters and lab technicians. Banner Medical’s new Indiana operation is located in the heart of the orthopedics capital of the world. According to BioCrossroads, Indiana is home to nearly 1,700 life science companies that employ more than 56,000 Hoosiers. Indiana exports $9.9 billion worth of life science products each year, which ranks No. 2 in the country and accounts for nearly 30 percent of the state’s total exports.
