At the request of the Culver Town Manager, Jonathan Leist, the Marshall County Council unanimously motioned to provide a letter of support for the Stellar Communities Grant Program.
Culver is one of three finalist for the small communities Stellar Communities Grant program which provides a multi-million dollar grant to a community with a population fewer than 6,000. Other communities in the running include the Town of Corydon and the City of Union City. The program develops strategic community investment plans, promotes partnerships, and implements comprehensive solutions to address local challenges in Indiana’s smaller communities involving community economic development, housing, transportation, and overall quality of life.
The projects in the grant application include a housing portion with 24 rental units and 20 single or duplex residential homes, a bike and pedestrian path with the 1st phase connecting the academy to downtown Culver and Ohio and Main Streets to the south edge of town and the final project is a major renovation of the beach lodge.
