Marshall County Republican precinct committee men and women gathered Thursday evening at 5 at headquarters in Plymouth to conduct a caucus to fill the vacant seat on the Marshall County Council.

The vacancy was created when Councilman Rex Gilliland resigned his seat at the end of May and accepted a position with the Sheriff’s Department as Court Security.

Potential candidates were required to submit a Declaration of Candidacy to County Chairman David Holmes by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 6th. The only candidate on the ballot was local businessman and Realtor Jim Masterson.

It was noted by Mr. Masterson that he was one of the successful candidates

in the May primary for a county council at large position and will be on the November General Election ballot for the same seat he was selected to fill last night.
