cemetery_walkThe Bourbon Cemetery Walk is back.  On Sunday, May 22, the life stories of eight former Bourbon residents will be told by volunteer interpreters.  The tour through the Parks-Oddfellows Cemetery starts at 3:00 p.m.  Everyone who comes to the event will be divided into groups and start at the same time.

The Bourbon Cemetery Walk features local actors giving a first person account of the life of a former resident.  The actor and the stories they are telling include:  Ralph Mason as banker and mortgage lender James Matchett, Leah Hartung as the talented stage performer and vaudevillian Gertrude Haines Flint, Jay Grossman as his grandfather, dairyman Graham Grossman and Jerry Border as his great-grandfather, stonemason and tombstone maker John Frazier Greer.  Also portray will be Portia Wampler as pioneer Nancy Neidig, Hugh Rettinger as local barber and photographer Charles Haberman,  Joel Faulkner as his ancestor, Civil War veteran Isaac Welchhonce and  Anna Gilsinger as business woman Hona (Honora) Davis Kraft.

People are encouraged to walk, ride a bike, or find compact transportation to the cemetery since parking is limited.    There is a sod area to park on south of the apartments if the weather is dry.

There is no charge to attend the Bourbon Cemetery Walk but donations will be cheerfully accepted.  Donations will be divided between the Destination Imagination team that has been restoring tombstones and the Marshall County Historical Society.

The event is expected to be held regardless of the weather.  However, gale force winds, driving rain, and snowstorms will be cause for considering using the raindate of May 29 at 3:00.
