LaPaz_Pursuit_CrashOn Thursday evening January 21st an officer with the LaPaz Police Department attempted to stop a passenger car for a speed violation.

The driver, 24 year old Codye Hagood of Mishawaka, refused to stop, and led officers on a pursuit lasting over eight miles and reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph on the US 31 bypass.  The driver attempted to exit the US 31 bypass onto State Road 4 and lost control of the vehicle left the roadway, hitting a ditch and flipping over several times.  The driver was uninjured but transported to Memorial Hospital of South Bend as a precaution.

Codye Hagood was later released and incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Operating While Intoxicated, and Possession of Marijuana.  His cash bond has been set at $3,000.

Hagood told the LaPaz officer he fled because of a suspended license and was due in court the next day on an unrelated charge.
