The Fulton County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center received numerous calls Monday which appears to be a scam.
The calls are allegedly from the IRS advising people they are behind on payments and trying to intimidate the people they are speaking with.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department advises, “DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY or GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION. THIS IS A SCAM.”
They continue with their warning, “Unless you are working with a familiar agent or business NEVER give information out over the phone.”
Fulton County Police say another recent scam has someone calling and pretending to be a family member advising they are injured and need money in reference to an accident or they have been arrested and are in jail. If someone wants money sent via money order, or green dot cards, for example, DO NOT GIVE INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!
