DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla Men’s Soccer team won back to back games this past weekend as they faced off against Lakeland Community College and Cuyahoga Community College in NJCAA Region 12 action.

In their first game against Lakeland, it took the Chargers 20 minutes to get their first goal of the contest on an assist from Miguel Zavala that Khalil Williams buried in the back of the net. Fifteen minutes later, Zavala would strike again for Ancilla on an Assist from Manuel Castellon for the second goal allowing the Chargers to take their 2-0 lead into the half.

Romario Piggott, 13 minutes into the second half, scored Ancilla’s third goal for the contest. Brian Macias rounded out the scoring for the Chargers with an outstanding goal in the 75th minute to end the game with a 4-1 win.

On Sunday, the team traveled to Parma, OH to play Cuyahoga Community College. In the first half, Cuyahoga was able to take a 1-0 lead. In the second half, in what Coach Dave Jacobs would describe as “One of the best halves we have played this year,” the Chargers created a chance in the first 30 seconds and continued to pressure Cuyahoga the rest of the game. It was in the 56th minute that Yaret Regino would score on an assist from Lee Nicholson that would get the Chargers rolling. Five minutes later, Regino would find Williams for Ancilla’s second goal and four minutes later, Nicholson took a pass from Castellon for the 3-1 lead.

“It was three goals in less than ten minutes,” said Jacobs. “That shows that our offense has the ability to take over games.”

The action didn’t stop their however, and it was  Regino who would get his second goal of the day on a pass from Luis Carvalho with 13 minutes left to play that would ensure the Chargers their 9th straight win, 4-1.

The Chargers are now 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. The team will play home Wednesday night at 4:00p.m. against the Jets of Jackson College to continue in MCCAA conference action.
