DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla volleyball team won over Lake Michigan College Thursday night, 25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 26-24, bringing their record to 10-15.

Coach Singleton commented, “I was happy with our balanced attack. Jackie Friel and Maddie Price, who led the team in assists, did a nice job of moving the ball around and giving multiple hitters opportunities to shine at different times.”

Victoria Bush and Sophia Smith started off strong for the Lady Chargers and ended with 10 and eight kills respectively. Samantha Brenneman and Samantha Albers also had star performances finishing the match with eight and seven kills. Friel and Price had 22 and 18 assists for Ancilla and Victoria Bush played one of her best matches to date. Xalina Gonzalez returned to the line-up in set four to give the team an added spark.

“I was happy with Xalina’s efforts,” said singleton. “Samantha Brenneman had an outstanding performance earning a .533 hitting percentage for the match, which is outstanding. As you can see, this win was a team effort.

The Ancilla defense was led by libero Natalee Walters who had 26 digs and was perfect in serve receive going 30 for 30. She also added three aces to top off the night for a solid performance. Jill Brown and Jackie Friel each added 13 digs a piece to help in the defensive efforts.

Coach Singleton commented, “I was impressed with the play of Antoinette Dashner. Although Toni did not play a lot, she went in and did some key things that helped us secure the win in set two. She dug up some great balls, was all over the coverage, and served up two aces for us in that set.”

The Lady Chargers also have another accomplishment on the night. It was the Lady Charger’s Annual Hunger Game and the goal was 200 lbs of food. The Chargers gathered 263 lbs. of food for the food bank. The Lady Chargers would like to thank all those who donated food to the worthy cause.

Ancilla is on the road Tuesday for a conference match up against Grand Rapids Community College. Game time is set for 6:30p.m.
