JackieWalorski_ObamaCareWASHINGTON D.C. – Representative Jackie Walorski (IN-02) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 3461to Approve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, signed at Vienna on July 14, 2015, relating to the nuclear program of Iran:

“Today (9/11), I voted to prohibit President Obama from lifting sanctions on Iran under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. This Iranian nuclear deal provides a significant windfall of cash to Iran and does nothing to secure peace or provide for the security of Americans and our allies. In the negotiations leading up to this deal, the administration repeatedly relaxed standards and gave Iran access to more resources than ever before  – all without any meaningful verification measures. On this day, of all days – September 11, when we remember the thousands of Americans who lost their lives on that day and in the wars that followed,  I voted to protect the security of this great nation – not to further the legacy of one president. Iran cannot be permitted to gain a nuclear weapon and I will continue to do everything in my power to strengthen sanctions and increase verification measures on this untrustworthy regime.”

The bill failed by a vote of 162-269.

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District in Indiana, where she serves as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, House Armed Services Committee, and House Committee on Agriculture.
