Heartland Gallery logoHeartland Artist Gallery will be displaying a softer form of art this September. The Friendship Quilter’s Guild of Plymouth have a passion for sewing, exchanging ideas, creating something new and sharing their finished products. Beautiful quilts, wall hangings and other quilted items will be on display and for sale at the Gallery. The Guild was started in 1997 and have always worked on a variety of service projects. Some of the projects include donations of quilts to Quilts of Valor, Memorial Pediatrics Unit and Operation Quiet Comfort. Some quilters showing their work: Sue Collins, Gracie Fonesca, Nancy Haberland, Kay Horn, Jane Horvath, Marsha McCarthy, Barbara Pruninski, Carol Ralston, Linda Redinger, Alice Ruiz, Carol Schmidlapp and Kathy Zentz, President of the Guild.

Every year the Guild has a featured quilt raffle, this year the quilt is titled “Home is where the Heart is”. The proceeds from the raffle of the quilt will go to the Life Enrichment Center in Plymouth. Tickets will be available from any Friendship Quilt Member or at the Heartland Artists Gallery from Sept. 1st through the 25th (including blueberry weekend). The drawing for the quilt wil take place January 11th, 2016.

Heartland quiltHeartland Artists Gallery will also be displaying art from over 20 of their Member Artists. The variety of art to be found at the Gallery will surprise you. Pottery, sculpture, photography, oil, water and acrylic painting, mixed media, ink, pastel, fabric art, glass fused copper, computer generated art, woodburn jewelry, button jewelry and more. The art displayed by member artists changes out every other month so there is always something new to discover at the Gallery. The Gallery will host their 27th Annual Juried Heartland Artists Regional Art Exhibit Oct. 6th through Oct. 30th. Last year the Gallery exhibited over 140 pieces from artists in a five state area.

The Gallery’s 5th Annual Christmas Tree Raffle will take place in November. The drawing for the tree will take place in early December. The six foot pencil shaped tree will be on display at the Gallery. This year there will be a coordinating wreath that is to be raffled off as well. Heartland Artists make handmade ornaments typically in the media they work with. This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland”.

The Gallery’s Featured Artist in August was Bruce Langton who also illustrates children’s books. The Gallery will be selling several of his books through the holidays: Christmas Eve, The Gipper and H is for Hoosier. Stop in and shop at your downtown Gallery anytime!

Heartland School of Art, through the Gallery shares a passion for art by teaching classes for all ages, adults to kids. There are over eighteen classes scheduled through the end of the year.
