Thelma “Jean” Bishop, 99, of Burr Oak, IN, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family in Culver, IN.

Jean was born to Arthur and Margaret (Anderson) Woolington on February 2, 1925 in Rochester, IN. She was a resident of Burr Oak for 81 years. She married Wayne Bishop on June 26, 1943 and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1997. She worked assembly for United Technologies “Lear” Corporation and was President of the Union for several years. She attended Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Mary Martha Club and would cook meals with the Pretty Lake Ladies. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and making Christmas sugar cookies, which her family continues to do using her recipes.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Judy (Roger) “Buzz” Rogers of Culver, IN; her grandchildren: Gary (Trisha) Rogers of Rochester, IN; Mark Rogers of Culver, IN; her great-grandchildren: Ryan (Lindsay) Rogers; Heather Rogers; Julie Rogers; Tyler Rogers; her great-great-grandchildren: Natalie; Kahani; Kaaliah; Emalynn; Rowan; and her brother, Arthur Woolington of Plymouth, IN.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters: Helen; Frances; Florence; and Mary.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).

The funeral will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Marybeth Scheibel officiating.

The burial will take place in Burr Oak Cemetery (Burr Oak, IN).

Memorial donations may be made to: Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church (8985 S State Rd 17, Plymouth, IN 46563).
