Special Olympics Indiana Marshall and Starke Counties just completed their first year of being back up and running.  After one year they have offered Basketball, Swimming, Track, Doubles Bowling, Softball, Cornhole, and Singles Bowling.  They are currently setting their sights on year two.  Listening to their now over 80 athletes, they have had multiple requests for Powerlifting.  Marshall Starke Special Olympics will be teaming up with local gym Hard Knox Gym and local Bodybuilder Eric Keen.

Assistance County Coordinator Joe Short said, “We are excited to be working with a new venue and Eric!”

Eric has been competing since 2010.  He has previously been named Mr. Wisconsin, Mr. Indiana, and Mr. Florida for bodybuilding.  Many of you may have read about Eric before through his past bodybuilding experiences.  Eric was born with cerebral palsy which affected the use of his legs.  This hasn’t held Eric back.  After competing for years in bodybuilding competitions he retired to start a family.  Eric brings a different point of view to this sport and has made a difference already for so many.  He has been operating out of Hard Knox Gym.  Here he has been helping others with intellectual and physical disabilities reach their potential.

His kids urged him to make a comeback.  After 11 years he recently competed in a bodybuilding competition where he won Masters Overall in Tampa Florida.

Eric recently traveled to Terre Haute and received his coach’s certification in Powerlifting for Special Olympics.
