During a very brief special meeting on Tuesday, the Marshall County Council approved the 2024 Budget for the Lake Maxinkuckee East Short Conservancy District with a quorum of four members present.
Steve Carter from Krohn and Associates attended the meeting on behalf of the conservancy district. He explained since the conservancy district doesn’t have an elected board, the County Council is tasked with reviewing and approving their budget.
He told the council that next year’s budget is $291,380 with an additional $40,000 from a property tax levy. Carter said, “The purpose of both is to support the operations of their sewage works.”
County Council President Jesse Bohannon asked if the budget was identical to the budget approved two weeks ago and Mr. Carter assured him it was the same amount.
There were no questions from the County Council and Deb Johnson made the motion to approve the budget for 2024 and Nicole Cox seconded the motion. With no additional debate, the County Council approved the East Shore Conservancy District Budget for 2024 with a unanimous vote of the four members present at the special meeting.
With no other business on the agenda the meeting was adjourned in less than 3 minutes.
