Last week the mayor’s office announced the closing dates for Michigan Street at its intersection with Hoham Drive.
North Michigan will be closed for three days beginning Wednesday, October 1qth, and continuing through Friday, October 13th. The closure is necessary for the installation of a new storm sewer culvert.
This is part of the ongoing project to widen Hoham Drive between Michigan Street and Western Avenue to three lanes. The widening project was originally planned to be completed this fall, but significant delays attributed to NIPSCO, and its subcontractors have forced the contractor to delay completion until spring 2024.
Due to those delays, the contractor, Milestone, has pushed back completion until early spring next year. They have revised their work plan and after completing the storm sewer culvert this week, they will be offsite for two weeks. Milestone will return to Plymouth the week of October 30th and install a new water main. That project will last through late November. At that point, Hoham Drive will be reopened to traffic for the winter season. Milestone will return to Plymouth in the spring to complete the road widening project and paving work on the Hoham.
