Special Olympics Marshall and Starke counties just completed their first season of cornhole and what an adventure it was! We had 39 athletes participate in cornhole this year. 10 of these athletes competed in the State EKS Competition. They were coached by Dave and Angie Banicki.
EKS State Cornhole competitions were held on the beautiful grounds of Grand Park in Westfield, IN. Lots of practice, dedication, determination, and teamwork all played huge factors in the results of Sunday’s games. A total of 974 athletes and unified partners were scheduled to compete at the competition on Sunday and each of our athletes brought home a medal or ribbon!! Way to represent Marshall and Starke Counties!! They did such a fantastic job! Our athletes are truly amazing! Huge Thank you to our incredible coaches, Plymouth Park Department, and Church of the Heartland in Plymouth for making this season possible.
Marshall and Starke Counties Special Olympics 2023 Cornhole Athletes that went to State are:
Jason Birchmeier & Bobby Bunting brought home a Silver Medal in their division.
Phillip Kersey & Scott Wormsbacher came home with a Bronze Medal in their division.
Brittney Riffle & Asher Short brought home a Gold Medal in their division.
Annie Castle & Caitlyn Pugh placed 4th in their division.
Ryan Robbins & Marcy Unternahrer brought home a Gold Medal in their division.
