Since 2009 the campus of John Glenn High School has been host to Falloween. This family-friendly extravaganza is from Friday, September 29th through Sunday, October 1st, and features thrilling rides and games, a variety of entertainment for children and adults, fireworks, raffles, and fabulous food.
Activities and festivities kick off Friday at 4 p.m. when the Huesman Amusements midway opens along with the craft vendor fair in the auxiliary gym, and the giant garage sale in the east garage. The art show, a farmers’ market, and of course food options also open at 4. Starting at 5 p.m. the Falloween Parade steps off from Urey Middle School and winds its way through the streets of Walkerton to the John Glenn High School. The Scholarship Committee starts selling their Ribeye Steak sandwiches at 5 along with the Pork Chop and Pulled Pork Dinner in the school cafeteria sponsored by the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce.
Other food options include hamburgers, brats, pizza, homemade pie, the famous apple dumplings, soups, tacos, ice cream, and lots more including carnival food.
The U12 softball invitational tournament gets underway at 6:30 and homecoming for the John Glenn Falcon Football game as they take on the LaVille Lancers at 7 p.m.
Amarillo Sky, the country band that rocks, will be performing in the entertainment tent at 7:30, and the festival closes at 10 p.m.
