On Monday, September 25th the Culver-Union Township Board of Trustees released a statement to the citizens of Culver and Union Township along with the patrons of the Culver-Union Township Public Library.
The statement says, “Last Friday our reconstituted board completed a second board meeting, and by Wednesday of this week, we will have met three times in eight days. We feel confident we have secured and stabilized the library following the recent resignations here and taken important steps forward in shaping the future at CUTPL.”
The statement continues, “We have communicated with our remaining employees to let them know how much we value their work and the extra efforts they continue to make to provide library services to the community. The library was open for regular hours all last week and we expect the same this week as well. They are our heroes, and a debt of gratitude is owed them from all of us.
Our employees have asked us to make hiring additional help a priority, and we are already taking steps to address this need. At our Board meeting on Friday, September 22nd, we appointed Cathy Thomas as Interim Director. Cathy will also continue to serve as Finance Manager. Board member James Wolf was appointed Treasurer. President Karen Boland announced her intention to form a special committee to source candidates toward the hiring of a new Director as well as other needed employees at CUTPL.”
In the statement from the Culver-Union Township Board of Trustees it states, “Ms. Rodgers? Yes – we are working on that matter as a priority also.
We have appointed interim counsel. We are working on re-engaging with the Friends of The Library organization and restoring our youth and adult services capabilities. We are re-energizing certain social media and website communications.
Importantly, we would like to give a special thank-you to all who participated at our regular September board meeting held last Monday the 19th. And to all who attended our special board meeting last Friday. It’s great to hear from those who place trust in us, and we will do our best to continue to earn it. We are committed to a high standard of transparency, accountability, communications, and public engagement.”
The two-page statement closes with this, “Next month we hope to invite you all to visit with us at CUTPL and meet our employee heroes, our new board members, and (hopefully) some recent adds to staff. We will keep you up to date on developments.
In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions and concerns.” Our email addresses are below.
