On Tuesday, September 20, Lt. Detective Les McFarland with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained information from the Division of Child Services of alleged neglect involving two children at the residence of Rodney W. McNeal, Jr., in LaPaz.

After an extensive investigation, a case report was submitted to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office. An arrest warrant was obtained for Rodney W. McNeal, Jr. for the following charges:

Rodney McNeal Jr. was booked into the Marshall County Jail on Friday, September 22nd on two counts of Neglect of a Dependent, where the defendant places the dependent in a situation that endangers the dependent as a Level 6 Felony, and Domestic Battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 as a Level 6 Felony.  Rodney McNeal Jr. is being held on a $1,500 cash bond.    

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
