On Saturday, September 16th around 8:30 in the evening Marshall County Deputy Matt Geiger responded to a motor vehicle accident at Lake of the Woods, at 3A Road and Abbott Street.

It was found that the 41-year-old driver of the truck involved, Daniel Venice of Wyatt, had hit a stopped motorcycle, driven by Christopher DeMatteo, at the stop sign of Northshore and 3A.

Mr. DeMatteo was taken to Bremen Hospital for treatment.

The deputy later found that Daniel Venice had possession of methamphetamine in his vehicle at the time of the crash. He agreed to take a blood test due to the accident involving injury.

Possible charges are pending with the results of the blood test.

Daniel Venice was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine given a court date and a cash bond of $1500. Venice bonded out on Sunday at 2:45 after paying the cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
