On Saturday, September 9, at 4:55 in the morning, Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Haygood conducted a traffic stop on 16th Road, just west of Thorn Road.

While speaking to the driver, 34-year-old Evan Jackson-Boys of Rose Road in Plymouth, Deputy Haygood noticed potential signs of impairment. Ultimately, Evan was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he received a certified breath test. The results from his test revealed he was higher than the legal limit.

Evan Jackson-Boys was booked into the Marshall County Jail with charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated-Endangering.  He was held on a $1,500 cash bond and given a Court date of October 10.

The passenger in the vehicle, 41-year-old Meagen Girard of 16th Road in Culver had a warrant for her arrest out of St Joseph County. Meagen was booked into the Marshall County Jail for a hold only for St Joseph County.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
