Officers with the Plymouth Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Michigan and LaPorte Streets on Wednesday, September 6th just after midnight for a vehicle crash.

During the investigation, the driver was identified as Austin N. Clark, 18 of South Bend.

It was found that Austin was intoxicated and nearly two times the legal limit.  He was taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail on criminal charges of Operating While Intoxicated-Endangering, Operating While Intoxicated, Operating While Intoxicated above .15, and Illegal Consumption.  He was released on Wednesday evening at about 6:30 on a cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
