The local Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) meeting was held Tuesday morning, September 5th at 10 in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building.

The board approved the location transfer request of Nickibaba LLC from 114 South Michigan Street to 500 West Jefferson Street.

In September 2022 the Marshall County ABC Board approved the transfer from Kain’s Party Pac to Handy Spot Liquors.

In February of this year, Nick Singh of Naperville was granted Special Use from the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals to relocate the liquor store to a new location behind Hoffman Brothers Auto Parts/Federated Auto Parts. They also approved new signage for both businesses.

During Tuesday’s meeting, Mr. Singh told the board they are getting close to having the new location remodeled.  He said they currently have 17 stores in the State of Indiana in operation and he’s been in the liquor business for 15 years.

The new location offers more and easier parking with entrances on both the east and west sides of the building.

Excise Officer Michelle Traughber told Mr. Singh that he must disclose all of the company’s violations to the local board.

He said he thought there were a total of 5 violations in the last 5 years for all the stores together.

Traughber’s list showed 6 violations with 3 of them happening in November 2021 at the same store in Goshen. The other violations were compliance checks with the last one being in April 2022. She asked what the company’s policy is for compliance checks and he said they use ID scanning that shows if it is a fake ID and if the person using the ID has the proper age to purchase alcohol.

The Marshall County Alcohol Beverage Commission approved the location transfer request of Handy Spot Liquor by a 4-0 vote.
