Last week, John Grolich, Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association District 5 Chairman presented 101-year-old Ray Doering of Akron with a glass plaque for 74 years of service.
Grolich was joined by other representatives of the IVFA, members of the Akron Fire Department, and Doering’s family.
Grolich said, “It’s certainly an hour to recognize you for 75 years in the fire service. We appreciate your contributions.”
Ray’s daughter said her dad still goes to the firehouse and is like their mascot now.
Mr. Doering was also presented with his 50-year coin and the IVFA Challenge Coin from the IVFA.
