Conservation Officer, Sargeant Jackson came upon a vehicle partially in the ditch on Queen Road near Plymouth LaPorte Trail Tuesday evening, August 29th at about 8:35. He found a male unresponsive in the driver seat.
The male, 25-year-old Johnnie McCarty IV of 9th Street in Rochester was administered two doses of Narcan and eventually transported to the Plymouth Hospital to be evaluated.
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the hospital and a certified chemical test was completed.
Johnnie McCarty was then transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
