Plymouth Police arrest an Elkhart man who fled on foot from a traffic stop
Saturday.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. Officer Vinson conducted a traffic stop in the area of
Michigan and Garro Streets and after making contact with the vehicle, the driver fled on foot.
A foot chase ensued, and a perimeter was established in the area. Officer Baker deployed K9 Castor and the subject was located a short time later hiding behind a dumpster in the 100 of North Center Street.
Jaheim Coleman of Elkhart was taken into custody without further incident and booked
at the Marshall County Jail for Driving While Suspended with a prior, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule Drug, and Resisting Law Enforcement. His cash bond was set at $1,500.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
