The Plymouth Fire Department was dispatched to a gas leak Tuesday evening on the city’s south side.
At about 5:30 emergency responders were dispatched to the 800 block of Thayer Street for a homeowner who was trying to remove a small tree. When digging up the roots of the tree he hit the gas line.

Emergency responders stayed on the scene until NIPSCO was able to clamp off the gas leak.
No injuries were reported and only one neighbor was evacuated during the incident.
