Marshall County Police Officers responding to a 911 call at the Speedway in LaPaz on Thursday, August 3rd at 3 a.m. The call was for the report of a battered and strangled female.

County officers responded and began an investigation of the incident that happened at a residence in the 200 block of South Michigan Street.

It was determined that Michael E. Roark of 210 South Michigan Street in LaPaz was the suspect.  He was placed under arrest and booked into the Marshall County Jail on the criminal charges of Strangulation as a Level 6 felony, and battery as a Class A Misdemeanor.  His cash bond was set at $1,500. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
