To prepare for the next legislative session starting in January, state legislators serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall, and examine policy issues, gather public input, and recommend potential legislation.
Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) said in a recent release, “I recently received an appointment to serve on the State and Local Tax Review Task Force, which will look at the state’s near-term and long-term financial outlook and overall fiscal position. It will also review how to reduce or eliminate the individual income tax, and property and business personal property taxes.”
Members of the public are welcome to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
Hearings are also live-streamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
