City Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 222 North Michigan Street on Sunday, July 23rd just before 9 p.m. for the report of an intoxicated male getting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

Officer Baker located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at Michigan and Jefferson Streets. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver, 35-year-old Alfredo Bernerdo of Plymouth, was under the influence of alcohol.

Alfredo was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated above .15, Operating Endangering, and Operator Never Licensed.  He was held on a $1,500 cash bond. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
