The State Wars United States Roller Hockey Championships have returned to Fort Wayne at the SportONE Parkview Icehouse for their 19th Anniversary from July 18 – 31.
The 14-day tournament expects to bring in more than 10,000 players, parents and tournament officials, including 283 teams (3 from Indiana) from all over the country as well as Canada, Columbia, Australia, Spain, Sweden, Cayman Islands, Czech Republic, and Italy. This is the largest inline skating event in North America and will generate more than $3 million dollars in direct economic impact.
“We are thrilled to welcome State Wars back for the sixth time to Fort Wayne,” said Visit Fort Wayne Group Sales Manager of Sports, Jazmin Zavala. “It is an incredible sporting event for our community bringing players and families not only to compete but also to explore our city. Expect to see hockey jerseys at our attractions, restaurants, and retail stores over the next two weeks.”
Considering the overall economic impact this group brings to Fort Wayne, along with the potential for a repeat opportunity to host, the tournament qualified as a recipient of a sports grant that Visit Fort Wayne manages on behalf of the City of Fort Wayne.
Tournament action starts on Tuesday, July 18. Admission is free to the public and a full schedule of games can be found here.
