Some Like It Hot, starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe is the July offering in the Seasoned Citizen matinee series at The REES Theatre in downtown Plymouth on Wednesday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m.

After witnessing a Mafia murder, slick saxophone player Joe (Tony Curtis) and his long-suffering buddy, Jerry (Jack Lemmon), improvise a quick plan to escape from Chicago with their lives. Disguising themselves as women, they join an all-female jazz band and hop a train bound for sunny Florida. While Joe pretends to be a millionaire to win the band’s sexy singer, Sugar (Marilyn Monroe), Jerry finds himself pursued by a real millionaire (Joe E. Brown) as things heat up and the mobsters close in.

Centier Bank is the community sponsor for this movie which is rated PG-13.  The Seasoned Citizens matinee is open only to adults 55 and over.  The $5.00 admission includes a box of popcorn and a non-alcoholic beverage of choice.

“Hitch” is a romantic comedy, starring Will Smith as Alex “Hitch” Hitchens, a professional dating consultant. In the cutthroat world of New York romance, where fates are decided in an instant, your average Lonely Guy needs skilled counseling. Hitch is your man. He understands women: how to get their attention, how to seem heroic in their eyes, what to tell them and what definitely not to tell them. But who does the pro go to when he needs help?

Rated PG13, Hitch is the July Date Night Movie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14.  Admission for adults only is $5.00 and is sponsored by Biddle Point Inn.

Closing out the week on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on July 16 is Moana about a sea voyaging enthusiast and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her island’s fishermen cannot catch any fish and the crops fail, she learns that the demigod Maui caused the curse by stealing the heart of the goddess, Te Fiti.

The only way to heal the island is to persuade Maui to return Te Fiti’s heart, so Moana sets off on an epic journey across the Pacific. The film is based on stories from Polynesian mythology.

The Bardwell Aquatic Center is the community sponsor for Moana.  Tickets for those 13 and over are $5.00.  Children 12 and under are free but must be accompanied by a paid adult.
