Marshall County Deputies Wozniak, Geiger, and Johnson along with Officer Wallace from the Plymouth Police Department responded to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park located at 7719 Redwood Road in Plymouth on Monday, July 3rd at approximately 3:25 a.m. for an individual discharging a firearm on the campground.
County Deputies and the Plymouth officer located the suspect on the campground. He was identified as 68-year-old Craig R. Topel. He told police individuals at the campground had been disturbing his peace very early in the morning. He said he was tired of the noise and wanted to sleep so he grabbed his revolver from his camper, went outside, and fired one round into the grass to scare the individuals away.
Craig Topel of Cape Coral, FL was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon as a Level 6 Felony. His cash bond was set at $1500 and paid just before 6 a.m. on July 3rd and he was released on bond.
