Monday afternoon the Marshall County Republican Party conducted a caucus to fill a vacancy on the Green Township Advisory Board. The caucus was held at Republican Headquarters in downtown Plymouth.
County Chairman Deb VanDeMark said the vacancy was created when former advisory board member, James Fishburn moved out of the township and had to resign his position.
Only one candidate submitted a Declaration of Candidacy, Jacob Mechling who lives on 19B Road in Green Township with his wife and children. He’s lived in Green Township all his life and is the 5th generation Mechling to live in Green Township. He works as a heavy equipment operator for the County Line Landfill.
Green Township Republican Precinct Committeeman Kevin Dunham was the one to make the decision on the candidate. He asked Mr. Mechling why he was interested in the position and Mechling said he felt it was time to have more involvement in the general community and agreed to be a representative on the Argos Fire Territory Board if needed.
County Republican Chairman Deb VanDeMark congratulated Jacob Mechling on being the newest Green Township Advisory Board member.
