Last week the Marshall County Plan Commission reviewed the proposed 2023 Planning Commission Budget.
Plan Director Ty Adley presented the budget and said there was only one major change that has been discussed, hiring a full-time Planning Tech position and going away from the part-time Code Enforcement Officer. That is the largest financial change in next year’s budget.
Adley told the Plan Commission the County Council has approved the new position and in July when he presents the second quarter figures, he will give a soft presentation of an additional appropriation to fund the new position through the remainder of this year. Currently, there is only $21,000 budgeted and that would only cover about 4½ months. The 2024 budget has $52,826 for the new PAT II position with a 3% increase.
The largest portion of the budget is wages with the Department Head at $66,858.30, the new Planning Tech position at $52,826.20, secretaries at $42,722.30, and clerical staff at $3,000.
There was also an adjustment in wages per diem from $5,400 to $10,000.
The total proposed budget for 2024 is $198,100.80. This year’s budget is $164,529.00.
