Last week the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety ratified the 2023 Street Paving Projects award made by Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt.
During the May 22nd meeting the Board opened three bids, from Milestone Contractors North Inc. from South Bend, Rieth Riley Construction Co. Inc from South Bend, and E&B Paving Inc. from Rochester. The high bid was Milestone at $497,681.42. The second-highest bid was from E&B Paving at $486,635.78 and the lowest bid was from Rieth Riley at $474,611. There was an add-on of $7,489 for additional stone for the undercut which brought their total to $482,100.
Superintendent Marquardt said he awarded to contract to the lowest and most responsive bidder, Rieth Riley for $482,100.
This year’s street projects include Hillcrest Avenue from Winding Oak Drive to Crimson Lane and Winding Oak Drive from Hillcrest to the dead end. Also on the schedule are West Adams Street from the dead end to Beerenbrook Street, West Adams Street from Beerenbrook Street to North 5th Street, and West Adams Street from North 5th Street to 3rd Street. The project on West Monroe Street will be done from South Michigan Street to North Center Street and East Harrison Street will have improvements from North Michigan Street to Bailey Street. Another street project will be made on Baker Street between Columbus Drive and Dora Lane and on East LaPorte Street from Footbridge to Liberty Street. Included in the 2023 Street Projects for this bid opening are Louisa Street from South Michigan Street to Miner Street, Ruth Street from Chester Street to South Michigan Street, and Bayless Street from Jackson Heights to Lemler Lane.
Marquardt told the Board of Public Works and Safety that bids for the Community Crossing project on Gibson Street and LaPorte Street will be opened at the next city meeting on June 26th and they will award the projects at the July 10th meeting.
