On Sunday, June 18, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a report that a 4-month of age child had been injured. The child was taken to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Plymouth for examination and transferred to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Officer Jordan Rans with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the complaint and initiated an investigation.

It was believed that the father, 21-year-old Blake L. Darrah of 1420 West Madison Street in Plymouth, had caused the injuries to the child. Darrah was arrested, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked in for Child Neglect, as a Level 3 Felony.  He was held with NO BOND.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
