The Town of LaPaz is hosting its Sesquicentennial Celebration this Saturday, June 10th with most events happening in the park.
The morning begins with a Pancake Breakfast at the LaPaz Fire Station and is sponsored by Cornerstone Community Church from 7 to 10. There will be a FREE book giveaway by the fire station with a drawing for gift cards from 8 to 11.
At noon the LaPaz Sesquicentennial parade steps off. The line-up for the parade begins at 11 behind the firehouse. Everyone is welcome to join the parade and an application is available on the town’s website at www.lapazindiana.com. The parade will travel west on Park Drive to Michigan Road where it will turn and head north. At Cortland Street, the parade will turn right and head east to Kimble Street and then to Vandalia Street which takes you back to the LaPaz Park.
At 1 p.m. they will bury a time capsule in front of the fire station, the car and motorcycle show, and craft and food vendors open at the north side of the park. Games start at 1:30 with the bucket brigade, followed by a Cornhole Tournament at 2 and the Tug of War contest at 3. From 4 to 6 the LaPaz Lions Club will host a Tenderloin and Fry dinner and fireworks wrap up the celebration at dusk.
The Town of LaPaz is also hosting a 50/50 raffle and raffles with other items.
