On Monday, Marshall County Voter Registration/Election Assistant Mindy Keilman confirmed that Ward Byers has withdrawn his name from the November Municipal Election for Bourbon Town Board.

In a release, Byers said, “My recent decision to withdraw from the November General Election for Bourbon Town Council is both a personal decision as much as it is a professional one.

I am very proud of the work accomplished over the past 3½ years, professionalism and civility have brought to Town Board meetings, important updates to employee policies, and streamlining of Department Heads to increase efficiency and save money.

Park improvements to the Basketball Courts with the addition of Pickleball, bringing high-speed fiber internet to Bourbon, new industry, and supporting existing industry in Bourbon.

Investment in critical infrastructure, working with Triton Schools to bring the first ever full-time School Resource Officer to protect the children.”

Byers closed his comments by saying, “I want to thank Clerk/Treasurer Kim Berger, Council Member Terry Clemens for their ongoing support in these important projects and many more.

The decision to withdraw from the election was not an easy one, but the right decision, as I need to focus on my full-time employment and activities at home.

I look forward to the next 6 months as I complete my term which expires on December 31, 2023.”
