Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two-vehicle crash Saturday, May 27th at 9:13 in the morning at U.S. 6 and Sycamore Road. 

According to both drivers’ and witness statements, 58-year-old Tod Hess was traveling northbound in a 2016 Jeep Patriot on Sycamore Road.  He disregarded the stop sign at Sycamore Road and U.S. 6, traveled into the intersection, and struck a 2014 Ford F250 Superduty which was traveling west on U.S. 6 pulling a trailer. The Ford was driven by 28-year-old Jacob Binkley.

As a result of the collision, the Jeep rolled coming to rest on its side off the south side of US 6.  The Ford F250 pulling the trailer traveled off the north side of U.S. 6 coming to rest in a field.

Tod Hess was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for unknown injuries and Jacob Binkley was uninjured.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Polk Fire Department, Walkerton EMS, Walkerton Police, and the DNR.
