Purdue Extension of Marshall County will be hosting two local workshops focused on food preservation. Individuals can choose to attend either or both workshops to learn more about preserving food safely at home. Each class will feature a different method of preservation.
The first food preservation workshop will be on July 13th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N Michigan St. Argos. The topic of the day will be “Boiling Water Bath Canning” and will feature a lecture, hands-on practice with equipment, and a take-home product made that day. Individuals will learn how to use boiling water bath canning equipment, the safety of canning, and be able to ask questions. The cost of the workshop is $30 and seats are limited. The second food preservation workshop being offered will be on “Pressure Canning”. It will also be hosted at the Argos United Methodist Church on July 20th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. This workshop will feature a lecture, hands-on practice on using pressure canning equipment and procedures, and will discuss safety in pressure canning.
