On Sunday, May 21st, at approximately 12:45 in the morning Plymouth Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Hillcrest Avenue for reports of a suspicious vehicle.
Before the police arrived, the vehicle sped off.
Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department located a vehicle matching the description in the area of State Road 17 and Pretty Lake Trail and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle could not provide identification and gave different names and birth dates.
It was later found that this was the vehicle in question from Hillcrest Avenue and the driver lied about his name. He was identified as 18-year-old Kevin L. Calvillo 1687 North Michigan Street in Plymouth. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was given field sobriety testing. He was under the legal limit for driving however, was taken to the Marshall County Jail for False Informing and Illegal Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage. Calvillo’s cash bond of $250 was paid about 7:30 Sunday evening and he was released on bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
