Last week the Plymouth School Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Small Wonders Daycare.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter told the board that board attorney Jeff Houin and Jefferson Elementary School Principal Angie Mills worked with Deb Friar from Small Wonders on the MOU.
The agreement provides daycare services to the school staff at Small Wonders. Mawhorter said during the meeting, “We are excited to partner with Small Wonders. It will be a very valuable service for our corporation.”
The purpose of the program is to provide childcare for young students ages birth to 4 years during operational hours for Small Wonders for the 23-24 school year from 1 week before the start of school and 1 day after the conclusion of the student schedule for the Plymouth School Corporation.
The agreement has 2 sections. Plymouth Community School will provide a separate agreement with CTE for field placement, special education consultation services, and transportation services in accordance with the transportation policy.
Small Wonders will provide adequate staffing for childcare, maintain licensures for all Small Wonders facilities, provide daily enrollment records for reimbursement for grant funding, and submit billing of $45 per child per week to Plymouth Community School Corporation with the corporation not being responsible for any fees beyond the agreed amount.
Small Wonders will be prepared for PSCS staff’s children on August 7th.
The MOU will be automatically renewed for successive years unless either party gives 90 written notice before the first instructional day of the following school year.
School Board member Nicole Christy made a motion to approve the MOU and it was seconded by Robin Cupka. All 4 school board members present for the meeting voted in favor of the MOU.
